Every member of St. Barnabas’ Church, as well as every student, teacher, parent, or staff member who has ever been part of Queen Anne School, has benefited from the planned gift of W. Seton Belt. When Mr. Belt died, he left his property and his belongings, which he estimated to be worth about $250,000, to a trust for the benefit of Episcopal Diocese of Washington and St. Barnabas’ Church. In actuality Mr. Belt’s gift has grown to become a multi-million dollar estate which has made possible among other things the creation of Queen Anne School, a church secondary school widely recognized as a model of excellence in college preparatory education.

While Mr. Belt’s gift is now sizable and far-reaching, it does not diminish the continued need for the thoughtful generosity of members of both the Church and School communities. Planned gifts of all sizes are welcomed and appreciated. Even more important is the deep and abiding spiritual joy that comes with knowing that with your planned gift, you have added strength to the purpose and ministry of St. Barnabas’ Church and Queen Anne School for the present, and for years to come.

"I have made a Planned Gift to Queen Anne School.
Please join me in the joy of giving!"

As you think about your estate, one option you may want to consider is Planned Giving. Planned Giving is a way to provide for family members and for other important people, institutions—such as schools and churches— and enterprises that are worthy and deserving. Planned Giving often enables a person to make a larger gift than he or she thought possible using some of the helpful options in the tax code.

Planned gifts are made in one of the following ways

Realizing that any discussion of Planned Giving is a matter that is personal and sensitive, the Joint Financial Planning Committee, which includes the Rector, the Headmaster, and members from both St. Barnabas’ Church and Queen Anne School, has taken steps to encourage members of the Church and School community to think about Planned Giving and to be of help to those who wish to do so.
