PLEASE REMEMBER: Each family is required to perform ten (10) hours of volunteer service per year. If you are unable to fulfill this commitment, you will be charged $10 for each remaining hour.

Listed below are most of the activities for the 2008-2009 school year. Please check any activities which are of interest to you. The chairpersons of these committees will contact you with additional information.
Auction - Solicit, catalogue and photograph items for our on-line auction, to be held in February.
Beautification - Weeding, rake, plant, trim and other perform other outdoor tasks on one or more scheduled Beautification Days during the autumn and spring.
Black Tie Affair - Help with planning and execution of the formal dinner held as a kick-off event for our Auction.
Book Fair - Assist with preparation and distribution of materials for book fair, to be held at Barnes and Noble in Bowie Town Center December 13th-14th
Boxtops - Assist with collection and redemption of box tops and labels. The funds are then used to provide materials for the Library.
Business Directory - Solicit companies and plan ads for our new business directory.
Cell Phone/Ink Cartridge Redemption - Assist with collection and packing cell phones and ink cartridges to be returned for rebates.
Drama - __set building/painting __costumes/sewing
Diversity Committee - Help with film night, activity planning, etc... This is a great way to get involved, and see what wonderful things QAS offers our kids!
General Construction Projects – Bring your tools and assist with projects around campus.
Golf Tournament - Assist at the tournament, to be held at South River Country Club on April 25th.
Office Volunteers – Answer phones, make copies, and prepare materials for distribution.
Parents’ Day Cookout - Assist with set up, food prep, grilling, serving food and cleanup.
Parent Representatives (The QAS version of a Room Parent) - work with class advisors on grade level fundraisers and special events, and provide an additional line of communication between the school and parents. Please indicate grade during the 2008-09 school year Proud Lion - Help with light cleaning, stocking, and assist cashiers during breaks. Help is most needed 9-12 preparing for the lunch rush, but you are welcome to volunteer in the Proud Lion whenever it fits into your schedule.
Social/Hospitality - Provide refreshments, help to set up and/or cleanup for special school functions.
Teacher Appreciation – Provide a breakfast or lunch for faculty on the date of your choosing.
Used Uniform Sale - Help collect, tag, and sell the uniforms at the sale, which will be held after the end of the school year.
Volunteer Committee Helpers – Make phone calls; schedule volunteers, assist with Volunteer Appreciation.
Wreathmaking - Unleash your creative holiday spirit as you earn service hours! Meet in the barn in early December to decorate Christmas wreaths fresh in from Maine, sip cider & enjoy holiday music. All talent levels welcome!
